How To Pass A Pennsylvania Driver's License Test On Your FIRST Attempt

PA Drivers License Test Requirements for taking the test

You will need a few documents before you take the PA Drivers license test to get your license. One of them is a DL-180C form that needs to be signed by a parent or guardian. suppose you’re under the age of 18. You also need proof of insurance in case any accidents happen on the road during the test. You must also hold your learner’s permit for 12 months and drive for 65 hours without accidents to take the test. Some things need to be done for the vehicle to be able to take the test.

Things like your windshield wipers, mirrors, lights, brakes, turn signals, and much more need to be even to take the test. You may not be allowed to take the test if they do not work. It would be best to have a valid license plate and state ID to take the test. You will be asked to turn on some of those functions on the test, which should be the most simple part. The actual test is not going to take that long, but the paperwork afterward can be lengthy, depending on what DMV you’re at

What you’ll be asked to do on the test

One of the more basic things you’ll be asked to do is use the essential functions that you’ll be using on the car. Using lights is good for looking at what you’ll see in the dark. You also may need to apply turn signals and check your mirrors. It’s something that you should’ve done while you were using your permit. All cars are different, so these functions may be differ based on the car that you’re using to take the test. Generally, they will act the same in most cases.

Next, the instructor is going to ask you to parallel park. This is arguably the most difficult part of the test. There should be some cones; for this part, you should use a mid-size car to make this part a lot easier. There are many ways to go about this, but you should’ve practiced before you did this. It isn’t easy to do, but it’s essential if you want to go to a city. You’re given a good amount of space to parallel park. however, if you knock any cones down, you will fail the test.

Next up is the driving portion, which should be simple to do. The instructor is going to tell you where to drive and it should be easy instructions to follow, what’s important is doing the essential things like applying your turning signals, using the windshield wipers if it’s raining, and see if you’ll apply your brakes. The instructor will be checking how good you are at using these functions, not using them at all is going to get many points deducted and you will likely fail the test. However, driving itself is simple.

Next, the instructor may require you to drive on the highway for a few minutes. You more than likely did this in Driver’s ed instructions, but now you have to do it again for your license test. The instructor will check how good you are at merging onto other lanes and whether you’re driving on the highway safely. There is also a speed limit that you must abide by, and if you are constantly going above the speed limit, you will get points taken off as long as you follow the guidelines in your driver’s manual. this part should be simple.

Next, you will be asked to return to the DMV, which should be simple. Even the parking part of coming back shouldn’t be difficult; follow their instructions and use the turn signals. If you got here, you likely succeeded in your driving test. Next, you’ll need a good half hour to ensure you can get the paperwork done and the license mailed to your house. By now, the DMV has all your documents, so you shouldn’t be asked to return anything. Congratulations!

Things that will get the instructor to fail you

Generally, there aren’t many things that can fail you on a PA drivers license test, so it’s important to be aware of what can fail you. One of them is running a stop sign. One of the things you learn in the manual is that “stop” means a complete stop, with no movement for a second. It doesn’t mean slow down and then move for a second. Generally, most people don’t struggle with this when they take their test. You’ll have to perform other functions, but most won’t fail you.

Another one is failing the parking portion of the test. This part of the test is one of the more difficult sections, but it’s very important for the people who work there to assess if you can park. Knocking over any of the cones the DMV has placed will instantly fail you, and you’ll have to take the test later. Speeding will also cause the instructor to fail you if you constantly do it. They may warn you if you’ve been doing it a couple of times, however doing it continuously will get them to fail you.

One of the things that will instantly cause the instructor to fail you is if you crash into any cars. It doesn’t have to be a life-ending crash, either. It can just be a rude bump and will be more than enough for everything to fail the test for you. This is why you must constantly use your brakes to be ready to stop at any point. Most accidents happen at moderate speeds, so it’s just a matter of paying attention so you don’t crash.
