Pass Your Georgia Knowledge Exam With Flying Colors

What to Expect on the Georgia Written Driving Test

There are two parts to the written driving test in Georgia. The test itself is known as the Knowledge Exam.

The first part is known as the Road Rules Test. This part will involve 20 questions on the laws of the road and safe driving practices.

The second part is known as the Road Signs Test and is also 20 questions. In this section, you’ll be asked to identify road signs and markers.

In each individual section, you will need to correctly answer 15 of the 20 questions.

In order to take the written test, you’ll also need to take a vision test, pay for your permit prior to the exam, and show up at the customer service center at least 30 minutes prior to closing.

Before any of that, however, you’ll want to study hard for the exam.

Online Exam Prep Resources

The first thing you’ll need to start studying for your Georgia driving test is the Georgia Department of Driver Services Driver Manual. You may also see this abbreviated as the DDS Driver Manual. Make sure you have an up-to-date copy of the manual so it has current driving laws for the state of Georgia since that is what you will be tested on.

You can find the DDS Driver Manual online.

Read through the manual carefully since this is all the information you’ll be tested on.

Many people stop here and go to take the exam. This is not the most efficient way to do things. While you can go to the Georgia Department of Driver Services website and schedule a time to take your written test whenever you want to, you will need to pay for that test each time. If you fail once, you can schedule a second test as soon as the next day. You will be required to wait seven full days for the third and fourth attempts. This is a lot of time and money.
